Working under strict deadlines, budget constraints and government regulations is just part of the everyday life of a nonprofit communications professional. Those who find innovative ways to tell stories within these kinds of limitations are truly stars in their field.
It was a full house Thursday night at the City National Grove of Anaheim, where hundreds of employees and their bosses gathered to fete Orange County’s Top Workplaces.
The 11th annual program honored 140 local companies and organizations.
The large company winner was Experian in Costa Mesa. The midsize winner was Moulton Niguel Water District, followed by the small company winner, SetSchedule of Irvine.
In commemoration of World AIDS Day on December 1st, the County of Orange Health Care Agency (HCA) challenges community members to take the lead in reducing new HIV infections by knowing their status through getting tested.
The theme of this year’s campaign, “Know Your Status,” is focused on raising awareness of those most at risk and affected by HIV. More than 60 million people have been diagnosed with HIV worldwide and in Orange County, 13,020 people have been diagnosed with HIV since reporting began in 1981.
Kurt Weston makes his living as a photographer. He’s also legally blind. It’s a paradox that has become his calling card, and he identifies with it proudly.
His blindness comes from tremendous damage done to his retinas and the rest of his eyes due to complications from AIDS.
Radiant Health Centers is going all in with this year’s 35th annual Radiant Royal Gala. The non-profit fundraiser is celebrating the golden age of Las Vegas from the 1950s and 1960s, in what is bound to be a sold out event. This year’s gala will be hosted in the historic, and newly remodeled, Yost Theater, located at 307 N. Spurgeon St, in Santa Ana, on January 26, 2019, starting at 5pm.
When you think of HIV/AIDS and God or religion, the following images may come to mind: “God Hates Fags” lining the streets at the local AIDS walk. A candlelight vigil in the church sanctuary on World AIDS Day. Members of a religious congregation figuratively (and literally) turning their collective backs on someone who has AIDS. Angry ministers loudly preaching “HIV is God’s punishment.” Magic Johnson pleading with African American churches to become more involved in the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Radiant Health Centers in Irvine, California invites the Orange County community to don their brightest cycling gear on Saturday, October 27, and ride for a good cause, the 9th annual Orange County Ride for AIDS, Radiant Health Centers’ one-day weekend ride that raises funds to finance the organization’s services and programs for the HIV community. The ride takes place at Bill Barber Memorial Park in Irvine, California.
