Medical Clinic HIV Testing

While we offer at-home HIV testing to make it both convenient and private for our patients, we also offer the same discreet free HIV testing for those that are uninsured at our Orange County medical clinic.

Our LGBTQ+ medical clinic in Irvine has a long history of treating sexually transmitted diseases. We work closely with patients to provide medication, mental health counseling and additional support after a positive test result.

HIV Treatment After a Positive Result

If a patient is diagnosed with a positive HIV test, the process will usually begin with Rapid ART – a highly effective treatment plan that uses antiretroviral medication to keep the viral load undetectable. Rapid ART can be prescribed the same day as the diagnosis in most cases.

Crucially, the earlier a patient is diagnosed and starts treatment, the better the outcomes, highlighting the need for fast testing. Additionally, our medical clinic also uses PrEP and PEP treatments in the fight against HIV.

Telehealth can play an important role in the testing processes for HIV, STDs and hepatitis C. If an individual believes they have been exposed to a disease, telehealth may be an appropriate first contact. In the event of a positive result, treatment may be managed through virtual consultation where in-person visits are not required.

At Radiant Health Centers, we provide both at-home and clinic testing for HIV. Taking fast action allows for the administration of PEP or Rapid ART treatments, plus any subsequent HIV management. Telehealth can become a vital tool to support you through this time, and help ensure you receive the right physical and emotional support.

Common Questions About Our STD Testing Services

When should I get tested for HIV?

If you believe you’ve been exposed to the virus, it’s time to get tested for HIV. Some common reasons for exposure to HIV include having unprotected sex, being a sexual partner of someone who has intercourse with others, sharing needles and/or being partners with an intravenous drug user.

Why should I get tested for hepatitis C?

While hepatitis C (hep-C) is not an STD, people with various types of STDs are often impacted by this disease. Reasons to get tested for hep-C include injecting drugs or already suffering from liver disease and/or HIV. If you have received donated blood or organs before 1992, or were born to a mother with the condition, we recommend getting hep-C testing. Contact us for help if you are unsure whether or not to get tested.

Should I get tested for an STD if I don’t have symptoms?

You should get tested when you think you’ve been exposed to an STD, regardless of any lack of symptoms. Many people will not develop symptoms from an infection, or will discover them only after the condition has worsened.
