Achieving Healthcare Equity Throughout Orange County
At Radiant Health Centers, we are committed to breaking down the barriers that lead to healthcare inequalities. We believe that everyone deserves fair access to healthcare services, regardless of race, gender, income, location or sexual orientation. Driven by the goal of reducing health disparities, stopping the spread of diseases and improving the quality of life for people of every background, our Irvine medical clinic prioritizes healthcare equity for all.
Orange County LGBTQ+ Medical Professionals
At Radiant Health Centers, our main goal is to provide care and support for those living with HIV in the Orange County area. We believe that people with HIV should have access to comprehensive healthcare services, whether that includes critical medication, mental health services, or food and nutrition support.
We also offer services like family planning, birth control, HIV/STI testing and PrEP for the entire LGBTQ+ community. Our team of experienced physicians ensures that patients receive access to specialized care tailored to meet their needs. And thanks to the support of our active volunteers and donors, we continue to develop new programs that deliver healthcare equity across Orange County.
Transgender, LGBTQ+ and HIV Care for All
Many people within the LGBTQ+ community feel let down by their healthcare providers. This lack of care can often stem from a lack of education regarding the patient’s individual needs. Unfortunately, people routinely report incidents of discrimination that take place in a doctor’s office or other facility, and this causes an understandable reluctance to further seek the medical care that is truly needed.
In contrast, Radiant Health Centers provides a welcoming environment with knowledgeable and compassionate staff. Our medical clinic is dedicated to serving all members of our community, and we’ve created an inclusive space where everyone feels respected and valued. All visitors to our medical clinic can feel comfortable expressing themselves in this welcoming environment.
Among our comprehensive range of essential services is hormone replacement therapy, mental health support, gender-affirming treatments and more. By providing these services we strive to address healthcare disparities and promote equity, so that every person can access the care they need to live in optimal health. With the support of this community, the work done by Radiant Health Centers medical clinic staff can play a significant role in ending the HIV epidemic in Orange County.
Delivering Accessible HIV Care to Orange County Patients
For the past four decades, supporting those living with HIV has been at the heart of our medical clinic. Our HIV care services have continued to evolve and allow us to reach more people with patient-focused treatment.
We aim to support the individual at every stage of HIV management, providing accurate testing, targeted treatment and support for mental health and nutrition needs. To ensure that every patient has access to the highest level of care, our HIV testing services are available to those with and without insurance.
HIV treatment options include PrEP, PEP and rapid ART, delivering preventive and post-exposure therapies to improve health outcomes and reduce transmission. Patients can also access mental health counseling, personalized nutritional guidance and other vital HIV services that support the treatment process.
Transgender Healthcare Services and Gender-Affirming Care
Our Orange County medical clinic is a caring and supportive environment for transgender and non-binary people. Because we are sensitive to the needs of each person, we will create a personalized treatment program to help you affirm your true identity. For those seeking medical transition, our knowledgeable medical professionals provide masculinizing and feminizing hormone therapies administered using methods like pills, injections or patches.
Our hormone replacement therapy and gender-affirming care programs are integrated with mental health support to help with your transition. In addition, counseling sessions offer a safe setting for patients to discuss issues ranging from anxiety and mental health issues to gender dysphoria and discrimination.
Access Inclusive LGBTQ+ Care
The LGBTQ+ community faces healthcare disparities, and this frequently leads to reduced access to care, discrimination, as well as poorer health outcomes. At Radiant Health Centers we are committed to combating these disparities by delivering exceptional care for everyone, inclusive of all backgrounds. Patients at our Irvine clinic are welcomed into a friendly environment with providers experienced in LGBTQ+ care.
We offer easy access to STI testing services and diagnose common infections like HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia. Our staff recognizes the need for culturally competent care and will advise on prevention strategies, appropriate treatments and more.
Patients can also access advanced HIV treatment aimed at preventing the spread of the disease and reducing viral load. For example, PrEP is a medication that reduces the risk of getting HIV for those who don’t have it, yet who are most at risk. Alternatively, PEP is taken within 72 hours of possible exposure to HIV, preventing a permanent infection by stopping the virus from replicating.
Medical Services We Provide for Everyone
Radiant Health Centers provides a range of services for people living with HIV and others in the LGBTQ+ community. Our medical clinic services are free for those who qualify. Those with health insurance can also access our services, but we must first obtain their health insurance provider information.
Primary Medical Care Services
Our primary medical care services play a key role in wellness and the prevention of health issues. Because comprehensive care is available from clinic staff who are understanding of their needs, patients can build ongoing relationships with our medical providers. At Radiant Health Centers we use primary care to deliver a range of services that prevent, diagnose and treat conditions that affect the Orange County LGBTQ+ and general community. These services include wellness visits, physicals, medical checkups and more.
A wellness visit typically involves a discussion about overall health and of course, any changes in existing conditions. A periodic visit may prompt a change in medication to deliver improved results, and your doctor may also recommend lifestyle changes that encourage better health. Physicals are routine examinations focused on overall health, or may relate to a specific health issue. To help diagnose or prevent disease, a medical checkup usually combines a physical examination with questions about symptoms, lifestyle and risk factors.
Telehealth Services for Responsive Virtual Care
Radiant Health Centers’ telehealth services are a convenient way for Orange County patients to access dedicated healthcare. We offer a range of solutions through this virtual service, including initial consultations, follow-up appointments and prescription assistance. Our patients can be assured they will receive the same level of care that’s available during an in-person visit, without the burden of travel.
Telehealth will be used by our medical team in combination with visits to our Irvine medical clinic. For physical exams, HIV and STD testing and other hands-on treatment, patients may require a face-to-face appointment. And where ongoing medical care is required, patients can get easy access to providers and medication refills directly through our remote telehealth service.
HIV, STD & Hepatitis C Testing
Our HIV, STD and hepatitis C testing services make up a major part of what we do. HIV testing is available by appointment in our medical clinic or at home. The earlier you receive an HIV diagnosis, the quicker treatment can begin. And at our clinic, if our providers order a rapid HIV test, the results are available within 15 minutes. So when you have any concerns about your status, do make an appointment as soon as possible.
STD testing is available for syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and other infections. All appointments are private and confidential. By taking precautions and visiting us for testing, you can prevent the spread of these diseases and ensure you remain in good health.
Family Planning Services
At Radiant Health Centers we provide a range of family planning and birth control services to the LGBTQ+ and general community. Our staff is considerate and well-informed on the personal requirements of our patients, and they prioritize the health and well-being of each person who visits us.
Some of the family planning and reproductive health services we offer include pregnancy testing, breast and pelvic examinations, birth control and adolescent services. We also provide sexual health testing and treatment, and are focused on making our services available to the entire LGBTQ+ community and beyond in Orange County.
PrEP, PEP and Rapid ART
Among our HIV care and treatment options are PrEP, PEP and ART. PrEP is a prescription medication that reduces the risks of contracting HIV for those most at risk. PEP is an emergency medication that is used as soon as possible after potential exposure. Finally, Rapid ART is a drug treatment that limits the HIV viral load to undetectable levels.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormone replacement therapy is a treatment for aligning one’s gender identity with one’s body. Patients will take either estrogen, the feminizing hormone, or the masculinizing hormone, testosterone. Adjusting the levels of hormones allows individuals to transition to their preferred physical appearance, assisting with gender dysphoria and overall happiness.
Our dedicated team provides support through the transitioning process, with ongoing assistance from our counseling staff. Whether you choose to undergo hormone therapy alone or along with gender-affirming surgery, the treatment can be an important part of synchronizing gender identity with physical and emotional characteristics. Before hormone replacement therapy begins, we provide an initial consultation to discuss goals and answer all treatment questions.
Convenient Language and Accessibility Services
Language barriers can significantly affect the quality of medical care a person receives, resulting in incorrect diagnoses and inadequate treatment. At Radiant Health Centers we are dedicated to providing language and accessibility services to improve healthcare equity.
Our medical providers speak English, Spanish and Vietnamese, and we use a professional translation service for other languages as needed. When scheduling and appointment, it is important to communicate the preferred language so we can ensure the proper language assistance so patients can receive accurate information to increase comfort and trust.
