Pride Month and the Fight for LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equity
Pride Month has arrived, bringing flags, parades, and a stark reminder that the work is far from over. As Orange County’s largest LGBTQ+ healthcare provider, we see firsthand the challenges too many in our community still face when seeking care. From limited access to HIV treatment and HRT to judgment and denial of care, these problems are happening right here in Orange County every day.
Pride Month 2025 Is More Than a Celebration
LGBTQ+ communities are facing an increasingly hostile climate, with hard-won rights and protections under threat. This occurs even in healthcare, where access, safety and dignity are too often denied. Pride Month is a chance to push back and affirm that no one in our community should be silenced, erased or left behind.
During Pride Month 2025, the LGBTQ+ community will celebrate the history of the movement and the progress we’ve made. But it’s equally important to recognize the fear that many still carry when walking into a clinic, and the judgment they may face when seeking care. Everyone deserves equitable, affirming healthcare, and with your support we can continue changing lives for the better.
Stand Up and Speak Out During Pride Month
Pride is taking an active role in your community. It’s about being vocal and being seen, showing resistance through advocacy, volunteering and giving. You have the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives, in the healthcare they receive and the dignity they’re shown when they are treated.
During Pride Month an anonymous donor is matching gifts up to $50,000, meaning that every dollar you donate will be doubled. Essentially, through June 30th your act of generosity will have twice the impact. From the person newly diagnosed with HIV who needs immediate treatment, to the transgender teen finally accessing affirming care, your support helps make accessible, compassionate care possible. How to Make a Difference This Pride Month
Taking part and being seen matters. Whether you join a parade, attend a community event or show up for someone in your life, your contribution sends a message that LGBTQ+ voices will not be ignored. You can find events in your local community and participate in-person and across your social media. And for those struggling to access the healthcare they need to live with dignity, you can help by pointing them towards the health and social services available at our Irvine center.
