GivingTuesday Food Drive Aims to Support Patient Nutrition
This GivingTuesday, Radiant Health Centers launches a campaign to raise $10,000 for its Orange County nutrition services program. Funds raised on this day will ensure patients in underserved communities have access to healthy, nutritious food throughout the year. For those living with chronic health conditions, the gift of nourishment is an essential part of managing their health and maintaining a better quality of life.
What Is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is a global movement created to inspire generosity and make meaningful change through financial donations, volunteering and acts of kindness. On Tuesday, December 3rd, individuals, businesses and nonprofits around the world will give what they can and celebrate generosity. This GivingTuesday, Radiant Health Centers is focusing on our food pantry, raising funds to address food insecurity and provide nutritious meals for hundreds across Orange County.
Support Radiant Health Centers’ GivingTuesday Campaign
Recent Orange County HIV data highlighted the need for action to improve health outcomes in the community. The $10,000 fundraising goal will significantly advance this mission by supporting patients living with HIV.
Currently, around 200 patients receive fresh produce and other nutritious foods from the Radiant Health Centers’ food pantry. With the generosity of the local community this GivingTuesday, more patients from disadvantaged communities can be served healthy food options, complementing the integrated medical and behavioral health services we provide.
Thanks to a generous matching donor, every contribution made during the campaign will be doubled. In practical terms, reaching our target goal will mean a supply of fresh food for months to come, creating a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of vulnerable people.
How Nutrition Supports People With Chronic Health Conditions
Proper nutrition can be life-saving for individuals living with chronic health conditions. However, many people served by Radiant Health Centers need help to obtain healthy food, such as financial hardship and housing instability.
While medical advances ensure that people with HIV are living longer lives, additional health challenges can appear as people grow older, including increased risk for heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. Access to quality food plays a vital role in managing these conditions as well, boosting immune function, providing energy, regulating blood sugar levels and more.
Our food pantry and nutritional guidance help ease the burden of food insecurity, providing patients with much-needed relief from the stress it can cause. Combined with wrap-around services (including HIV treatment programs and mental health counseling), clients can focus on managing their health rather than worrying about their next meal.
